Sam Morris has been a professional mountain biking guide in the French Alps for over 20 years. Around this time, guiding changed from a summer getaway for the lucky few to a full-time professional role.
Sam founded one of the most respected guiding companies in the Alps, BikeVillage, and after becoming involved in efforts to professionalize the industry, he almost by accident became the president of the European Bike Guides organization. – whose aim is to have a high level pan-European qualification for mountain biking guides.
In this podcast, tech writer Tom Marvin talks to Sam about the realities of being a mountain bike guide, organizing, and how to become a guide yourself.
