Ohio's only 24 Hour mountain bike race!

Due to the decreasing popularity of 24 Hour racing and lower than expected registration this year, the OMBC Series is officially cancelling this year’s 12/24 Hours of Mohican. We have had a lot of fun and a great run over nine years, however, the times are  changing and OMBC must be responsive to the trends of racing.Racers who have pre-registered will receive a refund of their entry fee.Racers who received complimentary entries as rewards for winning the 12/24 Hours of Mohican in 2009 will have an option of transferring the cash value of your entry fee to the 2011 Mohican MTB 100. Please be sure to let us know of your intention to transfer your registration no later than Thursday, September 30.Thanks for your part in making this race a fun event for so many years! Ride ON!

Ryan O’Dell, OMBC Series Director

FOURTH TEAMMATE MIA?

Can't get that fourth rider off the couch? Try out the TRIO OPEN team category!

Although Mohican Wilderness is no longer an AMTRI sanctioned event, the race will follow AMTRI rules. AMTRI, a division of Granny Gear Productions, Inc., was created to promote and support efforts to grow the new genre of team relay racing which began with the Inaugural 24 Hours of Canaan in 1992. For more information about the AMTRI go to http://www.grannygear.com/AMTRI/rules.shtml

To secure your team's entry, you must complete the following:

1. Registration will be online at bikereg.com soon. NO snail mail entries accepted this year. Racer's can take advantage of reduced pre-registration pricing or may register on the day of the event.  Individual Release Forms for each rider can be completed online this year as well.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How can we charge our lighting system batteries?
A. Racers will be able to charge lighting systems in the pavilion,
and water is available there as well.
A large showerhouse with some laundry facilities is located near
the pavilion and camping area.

Q. How long is the course?
A. The course will be approximately 9.5 miles.

Q. What is the course like?
A. Mohican Wilderness features some of the toughest climbing in Ohio, technical rock gardens, and a few crazy descents to help you temporarily forget about the next big climb.

Poached from Spoke Junkies : Features the longest climb in Ohio. On the downhill you will experience some radically cool rock gardens, some killer switchbacks, and a technical, loose, rocky, section that’ll make you wish for a bigger insurance policy. This downhill lasts for a couple of miles and is a blast! Technical bits, rollercoaster style singletrack, long grueling climbs, and bombastic downhills. Highlights include a semi-technical downhill with some light rock gardens and a short, steep climb on an old logging road. The end finishes off with a fun, fast rollercoaster style trail.

Q. How much does it cost to camp?

A. Since the Mohican Bluegrass Festival is a SOLD OUT event every year, there are no camping sites available with electric and water. Only primitive camping near the pavilion will be available. This area has been specificially reserved for 12/24 Hours of Mohican participants and support crews and NO ADVANCE RESERVATIONS NECESSARY THIS YEAR!

THE 24 HOURS OF MOHICAN HAS RESERVED PRIMITIVE CAMPING AVAILABLE FOR ALL RACERS. You can park an RV but will not have available water or electric hookup. Again, water is available at the pavilion, and a large showerhouse with some laundry facilities is located nearby. If you would prefer a separate campsite with electric and water, see below.

CAMPING RATES: $5 per person per night OR $8 per person for two nights. Please register for camping at packet pickup on Friday.
NOTE: Racers MUST register FOR CAMPING AND CHECK IN FOR THE RACE at HQ (That's race headquarters for civilians) in the pavilion.
DO NOT CALL or reserve campsites with Mohican Wilderness since they are likely sold out or you will pay full Bluegrass Festival Rates.
BLUEGRASS TICKETS: Racers and Support crew can purchase bluegrass wrist bands at race registration (REQUIRED FOR FESTIVAL ENTRY) for just $5 per person. This is a HUGE discount off the regular bluegrass ticket rates. The Mohican Bluegrass Festival is one of the largest in Ohio and boasts some of the top performing Bluegrass Bands in the US!

FOR RACERS WHO HAVE RVs or prefer to reserve their own separate campsite with water and electric:

As of March, there were still a few campsites available, however, you are encouraged to reserve your
site right away. These sites are sold out every year due to the Bluegrass Festival.

NOTE: If you contact Mohican Wilderness and reserve your own separate campsite with electric and water,
you will pay full Bluegrass Festival rates and your site may not be near the race start/finish pavilion.

If you can live with primitive camping, DO NOT call mohican wilderness to make a reservation! Simply show
up and register for camping at race check in at the race start headquarters at the pavilion. We have reserved primitive group camping in and aroud the start finish area at reduced rates. Nearby water is available and there is a showerhouse/restroom nearby.

Please Note: Mohican Wilderness is a family campground. Please observe the rules and especially the posted "Quiet Hours". With your help, the "24 hours of Mohican" will continue as an annual event. (-:

Q. When can I set up camp and/or my pit area?
A. Setup can begin Thursday. We ask that you please respect any reserved areas that have ribbon around them.

Q. Can we park an RV in the campground?
A. Yes, however, since sites with Electric and Water have long been sold out for The Mohican Bluegrass Festival, there will be no available hookups. This means you will not have water, sewer or electric for your RV.

Q. Can we pre-ride the course?
A. Yes. Most of the Mohican Wilderness Race Course has open riding daily, except on race days.

Q. What can we do if we lose a rider before the race?
A. Find another rider. You can also join our MTBohio Yahoo group and post a request for another team mate. A majority of racers and many other Ohio mountain bikers have already joined the group. Once you are registered (easy, no cost), you can send an email to the entire group. There is a link to join on the main page at www.ombc.net

Q. Can I make changes to my roster or turn in Individual Release Forms at Registration?
A. Yes. Make your changes as early as you can, but no later than 10:00 a.m. on Race Day, Saturday.

Q. When and where do we get our race numbers? Does the whole team have to be there?
A. Registration will be on Saturday, September 19, in the Pavilion from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. If all your paperwork is in order, one teammate can handle this transaction.

Q. How can I volunteer to be a Registrar or Course Official?
A. To volunteer, call Ryan O'Dell at (419) 989-0239 or email at \n This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .'; document.write( '' ); document.write( addy_text76191 ); document.write( '<\/a>' ); //-->\n This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
